Last year, the Ride Fast Take Chances podcast crew brought back the “Ride Friday, Give Back” (aka Fuck Black Friday) gathering. For those keeping track, November 25th, 2022, will be the fifth run of the sometimes-annual RFGB.
We raised $1,000 last year, and with your help, we’re hoping to beat that this year.
What’s it about?
We’re asking for at least a twenty-dollar bill from each rider (and passenger). As in previous years, 100% of donations collected will go directly to Alameda County CASA to aid their mission of supporting children and youth in the foster care system with dedicated volunteers. These advocates provide a constant in a child’s life, a person they can count on for compassion, guidance, advocacy, and information.
Important stuff, indeed. You can learn more about CASA here. And we can all agree that going for a ride and contributing to a good cause is a way better use of our time on this earth than the blatant consumerism of forcing people to work on a holiday so other people can score “deals” when they should just sleep in for once. If you don’t agree with that, by all means, go fistfight your fellow humans for flat screen TVs… but know that you suck.
Can’t make the ride but still want to contribute? Want to donate products for our raffle? Shoot us a note here.
What’s the route?
We’ll meet at Middle Harbor Shoreline Park in Oakland (where the RFGB first began in 2015) at 8:00 AM on November 25th. We’ll start riding at 9:00 AM and enjoy a nice jaunt through the wonderful back roads of the East Bay, ultimately ending up at the Warehouse Cafe.
Heads-up: the Warehouse is cash-only, so if you want to enjoy post-ride eats by the water bring actual old-timey money in addition to the twenty-dollar bill for your CASA donation.
Middle Harbor Shoreline Park is at 2777 Middle Harbor Rd, Oakland, CA 94607. Get the route directly in Google Maps here.
